Responses from citizens about Equifax
There are varied responses from people across the country, all of them are angry but a few have their own theories altogether.
One person wrote that he thought all three agencies were in cahoots with each other and the government was involved as well. “this is just the tip of the iceberg”. The three credit reporting agencies and the government are going to steal everyone’s money and everything we own to pay off the 20 trillion dollar national debt. “we are being scammed”, don’t say you have not been warned.
Another person has decided the Russians are responsible so they can take all out money and then have control over the US and all its citizens, and we will all be sent to Siberia and various other prisons, since Russia is so big this will not be a problem, and all the other countries will be happy about it.
One gentleman is going to of course connect with his person in Congress to find a better solution than the one offered by Equifax. No one has been terribly successful getting through to place the freeze on their account. One lady stayed on the phone for 8 hours listening to music waiting for someone to speak to her. Finally when the person answered she told the woman, I can’t help you at this time and hung up.
We have another very frustrated gentleman who said he had been through the hacking of the US government office of personnel management and his information was released to hackers then, he said he believed that one was blamed on the Chinese. Now with the Equifax blunder, he exclaimed is there anyone out there who DOESN’T have my information. He said that basically there is no one on earth who would not be able to open accounts in his name. He has decided to make it easy for the next hackers, he said he will have a tattoo of his social security number placed on his forehead.
One lady went to the Equifax website and said she did not know what captcha is
Another lady said to ask Hillary what happened and she would be able to tell us. We know what happened.
Some individuals who got in touch with Equifax for the free freeze were directed to a scam website, that appears to be Equifax asking for personal information. Well when you call the company that allowed this breach to happen in the first place, you should not be surprised.
One person called Equifax and when someone finally answered she stated whoever answered the phone has English as a third or fourth language. That is suspect right there.
One person told Equifax to use the same security her cable company uses, since theirs does seem to work.
One lady told them in her report to FTC Equifax was a bunch of clowns and then apologized to the legitimate clowns.
One individual compared them to the Mafia( if I were the Mafia , I would take offense to that), and stated signing up for a protection service that will provide residual income from millions of people, is akin to Mafia behavior.
One woman said if a company is going to collect sensitive information they need to secure it properly. She said imagine going to your bank and they were still using the locks that were originally installed without any type of upgrade and someone breaks in using a hairpin, they would be 100% responsible. Therefore Equifax should be held 100% responsible as well.
One person suggested there was no hack and that this is just a way to get Americans to sign up for auto renewal credit monitoring.
One woman has decided that since all she gets is a runaround with Equifax and nothing resolved after days and days of attempting to do so, she is going to go eat some ice cream. Well said.
I would like to think that Equifax will be penalized to the highest extent the law allows. The grief they have caused so many people is mind boggling and the fact that they do not seem to care very much is evident by the fact that the “help” they offered is just causing more run around and frustration for everyone, like the breach was not enough. I would like to think that 143 million people would have enough pull to demand that Equifax pay dearly for this .
